pause Qwen work, unload the model, start two pinned ComfyUI servers
Local image + video generation / dual-GPU operating test
Ten Bad Trips, One Local GPU Window
Ten original stills on an RTX 2080 SUPER. Ten short LTX-2.3 videos on an RTX 3090. The local Qwen worker stepped aside for 22 minutes, then returned in 23.8 seconds with its 81,920-token context and memory services intact.
Measured end to end
Switch, execute, revert
first still through the final video, including per-pair checks
stop creative processes, restore Qwen, resume units, pass health gates
cached setup verification, creative window, telemetry, and restoration
The creative window itself lasted 22 minutes, 14 seconds. The ten stills took 100.2 seconds total, or 10.0 seconds each. The ten videos took 20 minutes, 1.2 seconds total. The first video needed 3 minutes, 20.1 seconds while the model loaded; the next nine averaged 1 minute, 51.2 seconds.
The operating model
The machine changed jobs without becoming forgetful
Qwen across both cards
Qwen normally occupies both GPUs at 81,920 context. The 2080 also carries local memory embedding and reranking.
One card per medium
Qwen unloaded. The 2080 generated the descriptive graphics while the 3090 ran LTX-2.3. Qwen-dependent maintenance paused. Durable capture remained intact.
Health before handoff
Both creative servers stopped. Qwen warmed back to baseline. Memory, reranking, local-worker, timer, queue, and real retrieval checks all passed before the run was marked complete.
682 samples per card / two-second cadence
What the cards actually did
RTX 2080 SUPER
Ten 768×480 DreamShaper stills while Clarence memory sidecars stayed resident
- Peak utilization
- 98%
- Peak VRAM
- 6,289 MiB
- Peak power
- 167.07 W
- Peak temperature
- 54°C
RTX 3090
Ten 512×320 LTX-2.3 videos using the 22B Q4 GGUF workflow
- Peak utilization
- 100%
- Peak VRAM
- 24,092 MiB
- Peak power
- 223.92 W
- Peak temperature
- 73°C
The 2080 worked in short image bursts, so its whole-run average was low even though individual generations reached 98 percent. The 3090 spent most of the creative window close to its memory ceiling. It reached full utilization without crossing 73°C.
The useful failure
The first run died before it could make anything
An upstream LTX companion file had changed from revision 1.0 to 1.1. The setup stopped before Qwen unloaded, restored and checked the baseline anyway, then reran after the workflow enumerated the live repository and patched the exact filename. That failure is now part of the saved creative configuration. Replaying stale model manifests is no longer accepted.

Graphics and motion
The Wallpaper Is Breathing
A domestic floral pattern inhales through the walls while tiny porcelain faces surface only in peripheral vision.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A deeply uncanny psychedelic editorial illustration of a narrow 1970s hallway where ornate floral wallpaper visibly breathes, cream and bruised-violet paper swelling like lungs, tiny porcelain faces hidden inside the flowers, one distant amber lamp, recursive doorframes, sickly cyan shadows, screenprinted texture, sharp descriptive detail, centered composition, no text.
Video prompt
A deeply subliminal bad-trip sequence inside a narrow 1970s hallway. Ornate floral wallpaper slowly inhales and exhales; tiny porcelain faces almost emerge inside the pattern and vanish when noticed. Doorframes repeat too many times. The camera drifts forward with an impossible gentle sway while an amber lamp pulses out of sync. Colors crawl from bruised violet to sickly cyan. Hidden eye-like motifs recur in peripheral detail. Psychological, hypnotic, restrained, uncanny, no explicit gore, no text or logos.
Exit Signs to Nowhere
A fluorescent office maze promises escape through doors that quietly return to the same impossible room.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A surreal graphic-novel illustration of an endless fluorescent office maze with dozens of unlabeled red exit shapes pointing in contradictory directions, carpet geometry bending upward, doors opening into the same room, faceless silhouettes frozen near copy machines, acid green and emergency red palette, grainy risograph surface, no readable text.
Video prompt
A subliminal bureaucratic bad trip in an endless fluorescent office. Red exit symbols without readable letters blink in contradictory directions. Every opened door returns to the same copy room, but one object has shifted. Faceless suits stand motionless until the camera passes, then appear closer in reflections. Carpet patterns crawl uphill. Slow forward dolly, buzzing light rhythm, recursive geometry, paranoid peripheral motion, no gore, no readable text, no logos.
The Dentist Moon
A porcelain moon lowers over an empty dental theater while the instruments arrange themselves into a smile.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A theatrical surrealist poster of an abandoned dental clinic under an enormous porcelain moon with a faint human smile, chrome instruments arranged like constellations, powder-blue chairs facing the sky, gums-pink fog, tiny mirrored teeth orbiting the moon, crisp airbrush illustration, unnerving negative space, no text.
Video prompt
A restrained body-horror bad trip in an empty midnight dental theater. A porcelain moon descends through the ceiling and smiles without moving. Chrome tools lift by themselves and form a perfect circular grin, then gently dissolve into moths. Dental chairs pivot toward the camera one degree at a time. Powder-blue light becomes gums pink. Slow orbital camera, clinical hum, subliminal tooth shapes in reflections, no explicit gore, no text or logos.
The Corridor Behind the Eyelid
Every blink reveals a longer hospital corridor whose doors open into memories that do not belong to the viewer.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A psychological-horror editorial painting of a hospital corridor seen through the shape of a half-closed eyelid, receding doors glowing amber, walls made from red capillaries and institutional tile, childhood objects misplaced on the floor, one impossible vanishing point, muted ivory and arterial crimson, elegant detailed composition, no text.
Video prompt
A subliminal psychological bad trip where each blink reveals a deeper hospital corridor behind the eyelid. Doors open briefly onto unfamiliar childhood rooms, then become blank walls. A red toy rolls uphill. The corridor breathes with the rhythm of an eye trying not to close. Slow forward tracking, shallow focus pulses, peripheral shadows move one frame late, ivory tile shifts toward arterial crimson, no explicit injury, no text or logos.
Choir of Empty Suits
Formal clothes sing without bodies while their shadows quietly rehearse a different hymn.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A stark surreal concert-poster image of twelve empty black suits standing in a ruined velvet auditorium, collars open like mouths, shadows shaped like a second hidden choir, pale gold stage light, deep oxblood curtains, tiny eyes concealed in the fabric weave, elegant linocut and oil-paint texture, no text.
Video prompt
A deeply uncanny concert-hall bad trip. Empty formal suits sway and sing without visible bodies; collars open and close like mouths. Their shadows perform a slower, different hymn and gradually face the audience. Dust rises in geometric notation. The camera pushes from the empty seats toward the stage as oxblood curtains breathe. Repeating eye motifs hide in black fabric, ritualistic restrained motion, no gore, no text or logos.
Aquarium Under the Skin
A translucent figure contains a quiet aquarium whose fish remember rooms the figure has never entered.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A dreamlike medical-illustration poster of a translucent human silhouette containing a luminous deep-sea aquarium, tiny fish swimming through memory-like rooms inside the torso, jellyfish behind the ribs, dark indigo field, bioluminescent cyan and coral highlights, delicate scientific engraving mixed with surreal editorial art, no explicit gore, no text.
Video prompt
A poetic but disturbing bad trip: a translucent standing figure contains an impossible aquarium. Fish swim through miniature furnished rooms inside the body, pausing to look outward. A jellyfish pulses behind the ribs and changes the surrounding room's lighting. The camera circles slowly while internal architecture rearranges. Bioluminescent cyan, coral and deep indigo, subliminal faces in bubbles, no explicit anatomy or gore, no text or logos.
The Clock That Eats Colors
A civic clock removes one color from the town at every tick until only its red second hand remains alive.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A bold surreal screenprint of a small town square beneath a colossal black clock that consumes ribbons of color from buildings and people, grayscale streets spiraling toward the clock face, one vivid red second hand, elongated noon shadows, Swiss poster precision corrupted by psychedelic geometry, no text.
Video prompt
A subliminal civic bad trip in a town square beneath a colossal clock. Each tick drains one color from the world and pulls it as liquid ribbon into the clock face. People continue walking as flat grayscale silhouettes. Shadows point the wrong way. Only the red second hand stays alive and briefly resembles an eye. Slow crane inward, rhythmic color loss, warped perspective, no readable text or logos.
The Carpet Pattern Confession
A hotel carpet reorganizes itself into a message that disappears whenever anyone tries to read it.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
An overhead psychedelic editorial graphic of a vast hotel corridor carpet forming almost-readable symbols and a giant concealed face, wine red, mustard, nicotine beige and black geometric pattern, identical closed doors on both sides, one abandoned suitcase, precise flat composition with distressed print texture, no readable text.
Video prompt
A hotel-corridor bad trip viewed low over an ornate carpet. The pattern crawls into a confession that is never fully readable; whenever the camera centers it, the shapes scatter into normal ornament. Closed doors breathe inward. One suitcase appears repeatedly farther down the hall. Hidden face geometry surfaces only at the edge of frame. Slow gliding motion, wine red and nicotine beige, hypnotic and restrained, no readable text or logos.
Broadcast From the Wrong Childhood
An old television airs intimate home movies of a childhood that belongs to nobody in the room.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A moody surreal editorial illustration of a wood-paneled living room lit by an old CRT television showing an impossible family picnic, furniture subtly too small, framed photographs turned toward the wall, pale blue screen glow and nicotine amber shadows, analog scanlines, hidden duplicate children in the wallpaper, no readable text.
Video prompt
A subliminal analog bad trip in a dark wood-paneled living room. An old CRT broadcasts intimate home movies from a childhood nobody recognizes. The same child appears in every role and occasionally looks out through the screen. Furniture shrinks between cuts. Family photographs rotate toward the wall. Slow handheld approach, rolling scanlines, pale blue and nicotine amber light, whispered peripheral motion, no readable text or logos.
The Staircase Swallows Its Shadow
A brutalist stairwell climbs forever while its shadow moves downward and begins consuming the steps.

Prompts and process
Graphic prompt
A monumental surreal architectural graphic of an endless brutalist concrete staircase twisting upward into darkness while a dense black shadow climbs downward and erases the lower steps, one tiny human figure, sodium orange emergency lights, cold gray concrete, dramatic impossible perspective, screenprint and charcoal texture, no text.
Video prompt
An architectural bad trip in an endless brutalist stairwell. The camera climbs, but every landing returns slightly altered. A solid black shadow travels downward against the light and consumes each step behind it. Sodium lamps blink in a pattern that almost forms a face. The lone figure above is always the same distance away. Slow ascending camera, impossible Escher continuity, concrete gray and sodium orange, no gore, no text or logos.
What this test does not prove
This was one bounded batch at smoke-test resolution. The still and video for each concept were generated independently from related prompts; the video did not animate the still. There was no human preference study and no claim that these settings are optimal. The result proves that this workstation can enter a productive local creative mode, use both cards for distinct jobs, preserve durable memory capture, and return to its normal Qwen workload without manual cleanup.
James chose the test, the subject matter, and what to publish. Clarence built and ran the local workflow, collected the telemetry, handled restoration, and helped produce this record. DreamShaper and LTX-2.3 generated the media. AI assistance is part of the process, not hidden authorship.
